a few simple steps

A few simple steps to weekday relaxation:

1. Move your favorite armchair to the window. Window views with autumn trees work best.

     2. Change into your comfiest pajamas. I like flannel or fleece. Fuzzy socks are optional (read: mandatory).

3. Steep a cup of your most calming tea; peppermint or chamomile are both lovely. Bring a treat to nibble on, if so desired.

4. Plop down in your chair - make sure you've got a decent pillow - and open up your current read. Stretch out your legs if you've got the room. Declutter your mind. Breathe and watch the world go on outside.

5. Now do this whenever necessary. Maybe it's one time every two weeks, or after school each day. Make sure you're giving yourself time to be you. Enjoy.

yellow.

I wake up to brilliant yellow every morning. Sunny, happy shades of yellow dress the trees outside my window. If I live to be a hundred, I will never quite capture that magnificent shade of yellow; the kind of color that beautifies every branch and draws even the most pale house hermit out-of-doors. I could spend eons basking in the glow of these golden, burning autumn afternoons. I am certain I will remember this hue of shining yellow always. To me, it is the color of November.

the moments that (almost) slipped away.

We all have them: the left-over frames. Those semi-forgotten moments, stashed away in folders on laptops or at the very back of camera memory cards. The times that almost slipped away but were captured with a few presses of the shutter button, yet didn't seem to fit with any posts. These are mine. Vulnerable, raw and close to my heart. This is my October in images.
